This evening workshop focuses on important information for parents and their teens that are in grades 10 and 11. At the same time it is valuable for all parents, teens and teachers/counsellors. All are most welcome!

How Teens Can Build their Career Pathway to Prosperity

Topics presented by a panel:

1. Clear planning steps starting with high school courses

2. Timelines for post-secondary pathways

3. Managing costs of post-secondary programs

4. Advice from futurists on rapidly changing job opportunities

Panel members will include members from the Association of Career Educators, Janice Chappell-Traimer and Emil Boychuk

When: Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Where: Georges Vanier Secondary School, in the Library
3000 Don mills Road (North of Sheppard Ave. E.)

Enter the school only by the main entrance on south side of building.

6:30 Registration, cookies and refreshments
7:00-8:30 Panel and discussion
8:30 – 8:40 Announcements and wrap up

SATEC is again proud to host a week of events inspired by the Stop the Stigma initiative. Students and staff have been hard at work preparing activities to educate and inform teens and adults about mental health and wellness.

Earth Week Schedule

Monday April 22nd is EARTH DAY
Tuesday April 23rd is Transit Day – Lights Out Day
Wednesday April 24th is the Leaf Hunt, students find leaves hidden around the school (not during class) and if they return the leaf to the Environment Club and answer the trivia question they win a prize!
Thursday April 25th is an assembly day, and we will have a presentation given to us by the Environmental Club along with 4 representatives from environmental charities. Students will vote on which charity will receive money from our DRESS DOWN DAY!
Friday April 26th is a dress down day, students are encouraged to wear green. Students must bring two dollars to dress down.

A Parent’s Guide to Children’s Mental Health

SATEC will host an evening presentation in the auditorium on March 28, 2013. Representatives from Youthlink and Ceridian will be on hand to speak to parents about adolescent mental health issues between 6:00PM to 8:00PM. This event is made possible due to the partnership between SATEC and Youthlink and is an opportunity for parents and guardians to learn more about mental health and wellness. Parent Teacher Interviews – March 21, 2013

Parents and guardians are invited to SATEC on the afternoon and evening of March 21, 2013. We will be following a shortened day schedule on this date to accommodate interviews and students will be dismissed at 12:30PM.

Afternoon interviews: 1:30PM – 3:30PM

Evening interviews: 5:00PM – 7:00PM

Friday March 22, 2013 will be a late-start schedule day.

We will be using parentinterview.com again to schedule interviews. Parents and guardians will have access to the online booking system between March 7, 2013 to March 20, 2013. Please read the attachment for important instructions about booking interview appointments (click on the link below).
