Congratulations to SATEC’s Environmental Club (E.C) for their well deserved 1st place win at the Downsview Park Eco-Schools Challenge! 6 of SATEC’S E.C students from every grade (9-12) woke up very early on the morning of October 16th to head over to Downsview Park for the annual Eco-Schools kick-off. It was a wonderful day filled with amazing team building activities, networking opportunities, good food and valuable experiences to bring back. During the 1st half of the day SATEC’s E.C participated in the Eco-Challenge against 10 other high school Environmental Clubs, and for the first time since the 2013 Eco-Challenge, SATEC came in 1st place! Challenges included picking up litter around the park, getting rid of invasive Phragmites, planting our own tree, dressing up as a bee keeper and mulching other trees at the park, and SATEC’s E.C came in 1st with well over 1000 points. Excellent job to the E.C students that participated and worked hard for that 1st place win, and for representing SATEC so well, keep up the good work!
